WOYWW - 104

Happy Wednesday! Here's my desk this week - it's getting messier and messier as the weeks go. I may need to take a break at the end of the week to clean up a bit. *smile*

So, this week I'm working on some paintings that my friend commissioned from me. This picture is of the beginnings of a trio of 12 X 12 canvases that will say Joy, Love, and Faith. I'm using the colors that she requested: red, black and beige (and a little ivory). She also commissioned a larger painting for another wall that I don't have a picture of yet.  But I will, I promise!

I was so honored that she asked me to do these for her! And although these aren't normally colors I paint with (at least lately), I've loved the challenge of using them. It really expands the bounds of creativity when we step outside our comfortable little boxes!

Anyway, these will keep me busy most of the week. I'll post the final results (along with the bigger piece) next Wednesday! To see more workdesks, please visit Julia's blog at Stamping Ground. I've had SO much fun the last couple of weeks visiting new blogs and peaking at peoples spaces!

Peace, Love, and Chocolate

  1. I love circles, Joyce, so these pieces are looking great to me! I like the colors, too. I agree that working with color palettes that are unusual for us can be pretty inspiring. Do you often do commissioned pieces, or is this one of your first opportunities? Happy WOYWW!

  6. commissions are a mixed blessing - as you say - makes you work to someone else thoughts, which requires a whole different level of discipline,

so much harder than doing ones own Art and hoping someone loves it enough to buy...

looking forward to watching these progress,

    happy 104,

  9. I’m making a really big effort to get around everyone seeing as it’s a special week. Mind you it’s taking forever and I have a bit of a numb bum now so It’ll be back to my random visits next week I think. I just don’t know how some people manage it every week.

I think it’s good to be pushed outside your comfort zone sometimes, even if only for a short while.
The pictures are going to look stunning when they’re finished and I’m sure your friend is going to be thrilled.

Happy WOYWW 2nd Anniversary and …………….
    Happy Crafting!

  13. Oh good for you - I know what you mean about outside the box and all, but those colours would be hard for me...you will let us see when you're done, huh?!
