Journaling 2012

Hello!

It's been a while I know. I nominate myself for the Worst Blogger in the World Award. Ha ha.

Anyway, have you heard of a new product called SMASH Journals? I guess they're like art journals meet scrapbooks. When I first saw them I thought, "Why didn't I think of that?" It's such an easy concept. And a little less pressure than the traditional art journals or picture perfect scrapbooks.

Now, I have to be honest. As cool as I think these are, I'm too cheap to go out and buy a specific SMASH Journal. But what I'm going to do is integrate the concept into my regular art journal. Again, not sure why I couldn't have thought of this on my own, but it took seeing the video above for me to have my 'lightbulb' moment. Here's my page documenting the last week:

This took me about 15 minutes. Easy peasy. It's not a grand work of art, but it is a neat way of remembering this week. Which was pretty hectic because we just got a new puppy, Monty. And my goal for my 2012 journal is to complete a page a week, to document the year. I plan to use the SMASH concept a lot and include new art techniques that I learn and may even have some weeks that I just glue grocery shopping receipts!

This will be a much more freeing way for me to journal and I'm hoping to get into a groove with it. What are your journaling goals for this year?

Peace, Love, and Chocolate
