Easter and Goodwill Hunting

Hello!

I've been having a great visit with my mom. Here we are below. She's 81 and doesn't mind me saying so. She's very proud of the fact that she's made it to 81! And I'm so thankful that she's in such great health that she can still visit.

My son had a good Easter. The bunny was VERY good to him. *wink*

And, yesterday, my mom and I went to Goodwill and they had 50% off everything in the store! I managed to find this lovely desk...

My Goodwill find

It wound up being only $10! I really wanted/needed a desk for my studio. Something where I can work on my laptop and keep paperwork and stuff. It's missing a drawer, but I'm planning to put a basket there. I also want to paint it. I'm thinking teal. Hmmm...

I'm still hunting for my big comfy chair. It may have to be put on the back burner if I can't find one at a thrift store. But it's not essential to finishing my studio.

So things are continuing on with my studio redo. Hopefully I can get more pictures next week. So, please come back and check in!

Cool Breezes and a Winner!

Hello!

The new AC unit for the studio
My AC unit finally came in yesterday. I bought a portable unit, so there wouldn't be an ugly box in the window. However, now I have to figure out how to camouflage this big thing in the studio! But, its cool breezes are wonderful and now I'll be able to be up in my studio in even the hottest days. So it's worth the appliance ugliness.

And, I realized last night that I forgot to draw a winner for the Where Women Create magazine! So I did and the winner is...

Leslie

from Words of Me Project! So, please message me your address and I'll get it mailed to you!

Now that I have my AC, the real studio work can begin. My mom is visiting me (from WA state) and she's an expert in organizing! I'm going to get her advice about how to get my studio in shape. I'm so excited!

I better get to work.

Dreaming in Color

Hello!

I'm still waiting for my AC unit to arrive for my studio.

Snail mail.

Uggh.

So, in the mean time, I'm dreaming about paint colors. I'm not sure I will even get to painting right now. I would love to, but I don't know about the time and resources. But I do have some inspirational eye candy. It never costs to dream...

Lovely teal and turquoise

More teal (ahhhhhhh)

A splash of lavender

If I were to paint my studio, I would paint it teal. It's such a fresh, lively color to me!  I threw in the lavender for the same reason. It's probably the picture I'm more in love with though! Imagine how wonderful that lavender field smells!!!

Don't forget, I have a giveaway from Wednesday's post. Just leave a comment on that post to enter!

I Have an Issue

Hello!

So, I've started on my studio challenge. I said Monday that I was going out to get an air conditioner. But, the one I want is an 'online exclusive', so I had to order it and now I'm waiting for it to arrive.  (A test in patience I suppose.)  Luckily, it's still semi-cool in the evenings, so it really hasn't delayed me.

And, I was told by  Vickie from Okienurse about Kate from Sparkle Tart who's doing a 30 Day Craft Cleanse with a link up, so I've linked to that. I feel like I have some partners on this journey now, for encouragement and maybe even some tips. Also, Kate is having some giveaways throughout her cleanse, so you may want to check it out!

Which gave me an idea. Maybe I should give something away. So I am. I wanted it to be something in line with my challenge - something with inspiring studios and work spaces - and instantly thought of Where Women Create! So, I'm giving away the current issue!

And it's chocked full of drool-worthy studios and inspiring stories from the women who own them. The cover actually gave me an idea. Now I want a big comfy chair that I can put in a corner of my studio. A little spot where I can sneak away and read or go through issues of WWC!

I'm going to leave comments open until this Sunday, April 1st, at midnight. I'll draw and announce the winner  Monday morning!

Until next time,

I'm Challenging Myself

Hello!

I'm back from my Spring Break, honestly, a little earlier than I thought I would be. But, something happened Friday that has given me a new outlook and a bit of motivation.

I talked with Robin Norgren of Well of Creations and Spark & Inspire. She needed to coach someone for a course she's taking and I volunteered. I had no expectations for this. I figured I was doing her a favor, that I would just answer a series of questions, she could check things off her list and that would be that. It turns out she did some SERIOUS coaching!

Robin did ask a series of questions and I answered everything honestly. Then, she started asking questions that I've never thought to ask myself. I answered those honestly too. And it led to a challenge. A 30 day challenge to get my studio/workspace organized and running.

So, here I go...

The sad state of my studio currently
This is how my studio looks right now. Pitiful huh? It just has not been a priority. Since moving in, I've just thrown things up there (it's above our garage) and walked away. I've made excuse after excuse as to why I can't work up there, but now I'm done with all of that. I've got 30 days to clean it up, organize it, and then beautify it. I want it to be a space that when I walk up that last stair I see it and *breathe in and exhale*.

First things first - I need an air conditioner. I live in South Carolina and we've already had 80 degree weather. I'm getting that today! Since it's just one room I don't need anything fancy. I've never been more excited about purchasing an appliance! Because this is the first step to completing my challenge and really going for my dreams!

I hope you'll join me...
