Hello!

Here is my workdesk today:

I checked out Pam Carricker's book Art at the Speed of Life from my local library and I have to say, I'm LOVING it!  In her book she gives great tips on how to produce more art daily and one is to work on multiple projects at once. So, I'm giving it a try. I've read on other blogs of artists doing this, but it just didn't register with me until I read it in Pam's book. It makes sense though...

There are inspiring projects inside from some awesome artists! As soon as I can, I'm going to purchase this one. [I'm living life on a budget until all our house stuff is straightened out!]

Hello! This is what I'm working on this morning...




 

No, I didn't post the wrong pic. I'm getting ready for another walk-through for a couple that's interested in our house! I'm so excited - I hope they make an offer! We found out last night that we've been approved to purchase the house we want and if someone buys our house around the same time, that saves the hubster and I an ulcer!

I'll have a post about  the craft show I did over the weekend  - and some new Etsy news - later today. [*Click Here to Read*]  Right now,  I have to put ALL my energy into the sale of this house! Wish us luck, send positive ju-ju, whatever!!! Thanks!

Hello Friends!

I'm working like an elf on Christmas Eve over here in my little part of the world! I'm getting ready for a craft show on Saturday and working on some angel ornaments.

I've had to commandeer my dining room - and set up an extra table - to create a wing station! I'm making angel wings in mass amounts, taking my prayer girly and artfully bonding them together, to make a one-of-a-kind ornament! They're turning out to be really something special and I'm hoping will be a big seller on Saturday.

I'm using wire,  pattern paper, and Mod Podge to create the wings [idea from Taking Flight]. Oh and glitter - lots of GLITTER!!!

I better get back to work - I'll have these ornaments available next week in my Etsy shop. Until then, check out some other great work spaces at Julia's blog, Stamping Ground!

No WOYWW today...BUT...

Hello! I don't have a "What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday" post today. My desk is all cleaned off and folded up for today. But, I do have a few life updates...

We had our Open House, for the sale of our home, on Sunday. Two people were interested, but no offers made. I'm still hopeful though. AND, we're *this* close to getting an approval from the bank to buy the next house. So, in reality, nothing has changed, but there's an illusion of progress! *smile*

On a sad note, the craft show I was to do this weekend was cancelled. Total bummer! It was due to a whole county licensing mix-up that's too complicated to even explain (I'm not sure I understand anyway). So, I have a free weekend now. I moped yesterday, but now I'm looking at it as a weekend to create and get ready for the craft show the following weekend. I've gotta stay positive!!!

And, I attended a local Artists Guild meeting on Monday. It seems like a great way to meet other local artists and learn from their wide range of experience. And everyone was SO nice - although I felt a little like a wallflower...

I LOVE how this is turning out! The colors are SO me. I'd have to say, this is the most me I've ever done in a painting. Just a few more things and it will be done. *smile*

Hello!

As you can see, my desk is back to being a wonderful mess! I will however, be cleaning up after myself today, just to keep the house presentable. I was able to work in my journal last night. It's been a LONG time since I played in my journal. I tried painting my girly over white gesso - I'm not sure I like the effect. But it was fun to experiment!

I also have my sewing machine out. More experimenting to be done this afternoon, when it's blazing hot outside! Still in the 90's here. It will probably be that way well into September. Oh well...

Hello!

This is a rare occasion for me - I have NOTHING on my desk today! In fact, the table is folded up and the room is in spotless mode. The hubster and I spent all weekend cleaning up and finalizing prep to get our house ready to sell. And in all the hustle and bustle of that and regular life, I haven't had a chance to start any new projects. *sad*

But here are a couple of projects that I've finished in the last few weeks:

 A custom order that I did. It's going in a baby's room - very exciting!

And a PiF that I've owed another friend. She made a PiF for me that I posted a few months back - a beautiful hand crocheted scarf and handmade earrings! Both in my favorite color, green!

Hello! I'm doing something different today with my WOYWW post. I'm going to go through the step-by-step process of my State Fair submission (juried art show). I can't show the completed project, but close enough!

So the pic above shows the beginning. I went through magazines (I'm picturing one of my favs) and tore out pictures in a blueish color scheme. I LOVE this part, because I'm a magazine addict.  

 

Once I selected the pictures, I layed them out on my canvas. Once I had that figured out, I rubbed each piece with the Nevr-Dull. I learned of this process on Katie Kendrick's blog, Joyously Becoming. I love her art and she has an online class coming up. I SO wish I could take it, but my fundage is low right now (trying to buckle down to buy a new house). *smile*

Anyhoo, this is what it looks like after the rubbing. I rubbed it over stencils, to give it texture. You could rub it over anything really - a very cool effect!

 

Then, I glue it down with gel medium. I like to use a wall painting brush because I can cover quite a bit of space in a short amount of time. I have no patience - it's something I'm working on.

 

And after the gel medium dries, I add layers of paint, etc. This is NOT the finished piece. I still have to add my girly and the words. I don't want to show the finished piece, because I don't want to somehow disqualify myself from the show. *smile*

Hello! As you can see, my desk doesn't look a whole lot different than it did last week:

But, I did get to work a little on my State Fair submission. The girly there will be a part of the finished painting. She's not even fully done, but I can't do anything more with her until I get the background started. Hopefully, I'll have a photo next week of that. Underneath her is a commissioned piece that I'm almost finished with. I didn't want to show that yet until I get permission from my buyer.

It's been really busy around my house. Preparing to sell is EXHAUSTING! The hubster and I cleaned out the garage over the weekend - in 100 degree weather! I've never had good timing, ha ha. But it's done and even if this house doesn't sell, everything we've done was really needed!

Hello! I took last week off and actually cleaned up my work space a bit. And, then I started working again, so now it's a little messy again. I think Messy is my middle name!

Today I have my paper cutter out - I had to prepare 2 prints for shipping! I LOVE that! And I have a blank canvas set up. This is my reminder that I need to start a project for my State Fair submission. It's a juried show and this will be the first time I'm entering. The Nevr-Dull and magazine are part of the project. I'll try to take pics of the process/progress, since it will probably consume a couple of weeks!

Also, I have to lessen my messy - because the hubster and I are going to be putting our house up for sale! It's VERY exciting and if everything works out the way I hope, I'll have some BIG NEWS. But, mums the word for now. And I'm a blabber mouth, so it's hard to keep quiet!

Ok, now on to WOYWW.  I might as well post a nake picture of me, because the pic below makes me feel EXPOSED! But, I wanted to show how horribly messy my space gets when I get on a roll with projects.

I never really find the time to clean up - I just move from one project to the next - and sometimes don't even finish the project (like the painting propped on the futon)! I have another girly painting that I'm working on. And I'm going to talk a little bit about what these girls are for.

And what I'm doing all this for is a new project. I plan to have a more detailed post about it soon, but basically, I'm starting a line called Sisterhood for my Etsy shop. A portion of the sale price will go to a local charity called Sistercare that assists and empowers abused women and their children. I'm so excited about this project - but there just doesn't seem like enough hours in the day to get everything done! But, I at least wanted to mention it today. I have a couple of prints available in my Etsy shop and hope to have more items available this week.

Not a whole lot going on today. Working on girly faces to add to mixed-media backgrounds for a project that I'm hoping to announce sometime in July. I want to have a few finished pieces under my belt before a formal announcement. I'm VERY excited though!

7 DOJC - Day 3 + WOYWW 107

It's Day 3! Wow, this week is going by really fast!

Today's challenge is to fingerpaint! Or at least paint/draw like a child. The idea is to let go, get a little messy and have fun! I have to admit, my biggest inspiration is my son. Because he has no preconceived idea of what "art" is, he does whatever he wants. Most of the time, it looks like a big mess (I never say that to him). But sometimes, he'll create something amazing and if he never played around he'd never get to amazing!

I decided to record us working on our masterpieces. This is just a small portion, only 2 minutes. And I think he's pretty cute to look at!

I hope that he inspired you as much as he does me!

I really don't have anything for this week. My son was sick Monday and Tuesday so I devoted all my time to him. This isn't even a picture of my desk - it's the kitchen table. But it's going to be Father's Day on Sunday and I'll be working on some gifts as soon as I catch up on some housework. Nothing too exciting. Sorry.

My desk is getting ridiculously messy. But here it is with a finished project this week (just listed in my Etsy shop.)  I'm finding it harder than I thought to get my shop stocked. I'll start something, then scrap it because I don't like it and move on to something else. This is not a very productive tactic. But I'll keep trying. *smile*

I finished the commissioned pieces for my friend. I think they all turned out pretty good. I tried to keep the trio coordinated with each other, yet different. I believe she is going to hang these in her entryway. I can't wait to see her pics!

WOYWW - 104

Happy Wednesday! Here's my desk this week - it's getting messier and messier as the weeks go. I may need to take a break at the end of the week to clean up a bit. *smile*

So, this week I'm working on some paintings that my friend commissioned from me. This picture is of the beginnings of a trio of 12 X 12 canvases that will say Joy, Love, and Faith. I'm using the colors that she requested: red, black and beige (and a little ivory). She also commissioned a larger painting for another wall that I don't have a picture of yet.  But I will, I promise!

I was so honored that she asked me to do these for her! And although these aren't normally colors I paint with (at least lately), I've loved the challenge of using them. It really expands the bounds of creativity when we step outside our comfortable little boxes!

Hello! I'm doing another 'What's on your workspace Wednesday?' As you can see, my desk is getting messier. Doesn't messy equal genius? Ha, ha...

I'm working on a little something for my office. I'm a magazine hoarder, so I needed something to organize them. I found plain white cardboard magazine boxes at Ikea and now I'm painting them out, mixed media style. So much fun to just let go and paint!
