Silence and Inspiration

Recently, my hubby and I went to see the art of Lesley Dill at the Columbia Museum of Art. We’re lucky that his company sponsors Sundays, in which anyone can go to the museum for free. Pretty cool huh?

Anyway, I had never heard of Lesley Dill before. I did some research before going to the museum, but I have to say, seeing her work online does not compare to seeing her work in person. And what was even more cool was that there was hardly anyone there, so it was silent. I love museums when there’s a silence surrounding me, so I can fully absorb the art. I have to admit, some of her pieces I loved, some disturbed me, and some I just didn’t like at all. The mark of a true artist I suppose.

What I really love about her art is where she gathers her inspiration from – writings or really from writers – Emily Dickinson, Pablo Neruda, Salvador Espriu, and Franz Kafka. This was so inspiring to me! So, I’ve gotten a couple books of poetry, one from Emily Dickinson and another from T.S. Eliot. I’m going to see what I can create.

I love new explorations and I love trying to acquire inspiration from other sources in the world. I’ll share with you all what I create. I’m very excited!

What inspires you?

Peace, Love and Chocolate
