Busy as a Bee

from my Sketchbook Project

I'm pretty busy this week - painting away. That's a good thing!!! But, it's hard to fit that in with life and blogging, etc. But, as soon as I'm finished with my projects this week, I'll try to post pics (one is a commissioned painting, so I may not get permission).

I'm definitely wishing for more time in the day, but loving every minute I have. I hope you're having a great week too!

Week One

I've had a pretty good first week of 2011! I met with a new creative friend over coffee (her blog is here), worked on my Sketchbook Project pages, added new stuff to my Etsy shop - and made a sale - and basically just had a fabulously busy week! I'm going to take a break this weekend to rest up a bit and then start all over again on Monday.

On my healthy eating, I've done PRETTY good. I've added more water and really watching my portion sizes. I can already tell that I have more energy by drinking water and I'm actually sleeping a little better at night! Now all I have to do is add some exercise. Why is it so hard to fit into a day?

How has your 2011 first week been?

Panic Time!

I just realized that I have approximately a week to finish up 19 pages in my Sketchbook Project book and get it in the mail! Yikes!!! Talk about waiting until the last minute! I can't believe how quickly time passes. So, I'll be buckling down this week to crank out page after page, so I can get this done. I'm hoping that my hubby and I can go to Atlanta in April to see the tour - that would be awesome!

I better get to it! :-)

The Word for 2011

I don’t normally make New Year Resolutions. Typically, people never follow through with them, including me. But, with everything I want to accomplish in 2011, I feel the need to document it somehow. So, this year I’m stating what I want to accomplish in 2011 and then will try to sum that up with ONE word. This idea came to me when I started reading the blog {Words of Me Project}. What do I want for 2011?

~ I want to feel healthier – eat better, get regular exercise, drink water, etc. Hopefully this result in weight loss – but I’d be happy with just feeling more energetic.

~ I also want to put my all into a creative business which hopefully brings success, so that I can once again contribute monetarily to my family.

~ Lastly, I want to maintain my home so that it will remain organized and peaceful. Right now, when the clutter gets the best of me, my home feels very chaotic – and that’s not how I want my family to live.

So, I can only think of one word that will help me accomplish all of these things and that is:

Discipline.

And I’m approaching the idea of Discipline like I’m “mothering” myself. I don’t let my son eat bad things, so why should I? And when I worked full-time, I had set hours that were dedicated to what I needed to get done, so I should be able to apply the same time management to my creative business and things that need to be done around the house.

A Sketchbook Project page

I’m very optimistic about 2011! I’m ending 2010 a little under the weather, which means I’ll just have more incentive next week to get going on everything I want to accomplish. I can’t wait!

The Joy List, 10/24/10

Here's what brought me Joy in the last week:

Funky, bumpy, and green pumpkins in the pumpkin patch...

...a little taste of home (ok, I know I'm actually from Graham, but they don't have Graham's Best Coffee!)...

...my hubby and son finding the perfect pumpkin...

...and getting another entry into my Sketchbook Project journal. I have lots to do next week, including oodles of Halloween events and I'm hoping to add items to my Etsy shop! I hope you have a great week as well.

The things that brought me Joy this week are:

...hanging out with the hubby...

...getting some work done in my Sketchbook Project 2011 book...

...and going to the SC State Fair with my son. All good things! I'm ready for more joy next week - so bring it on! I hope you'll join me!

Cover

I've finished the cover for my Sketchbook Project 2011 book (link to the right). My theme is "...you'd be home by now" and I realize that this cover doesn't really have much to do with that, but my pages will (some at least). I doubt I'll post all my pages (I might!), but I will post some.

I'm working on this project and will be starting an online class in a few days - Art, Heart & Healing, so I will be kept busy! Which brings me great joy!
